Wow. Walk #11 from the beautiful Fresno High School to the roundabout at the SE corner of Roeding Park. This walk had extreme contrasts. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, lots of shade trees, birds, quiet neighborhood streets. However, crossing south of Olive and west of Echo had a notible change. More houses neglected, visible piles of junk, torn up sidewalks, and long forsaken alleys. This walk routed through an alley behind a motel. The trash and bottles made us imagine what went on in this alley at other times during the week. Walked the foot underpath below Golden State Highway and to the roundabout at the SE corner of Roeding Park. Spirit of Women is located off the roundabout. Spirit is an organization that is a last resort for women needing recovery who want to try and stay with their children, or for women during pregnancy. Coming back, we saw La Tapatia, one of Fresno’s most successful local businesses. As we walked close to Fresno High School, the homes were beautiful with so much character, big trees, and well cared for. And what a thrill to see Fresno High basketball team won Valley Champion for 2014.
