Saturday morning, November 19, 2016, eight mindfulness walkers began at Clovis Unified’s Fancher Creek Elementary school. The beautifully landscaped and clean school was un-fenced with benches and bike racks near the entrance. This was the Saturday to begin the Thanksgiving break and a teacher (we guessed she was a teacher) was already parking and unloading materials to carry into the school.
Walkers talked to Robin and her dad on their front walkway. They told walkers about the moss in his front yard and how he brought it from Mississippi in a suitcase 30 years ago. He’s lived in this house 55 years. (see photos)
Sounds: leaf blower, mower, train whistle in distance, birds, wildlife, very quickly moving from quiet then to roar of traffic, dogs barking, both small and large dogs at back gates or back fences, car alarm, music from car windows, music in front yard with man sweeping, woman speaking Hmong. Sounds of a fountain/pool waterfall coming from a backyard.
