Saturday morning, Feb 4, 2017, 10 mindfulness walkers caught the canal trail at Cedar and Dakota, and walked almost 2 miles of canal banks to McKinley Ave and back.
Walking the canal just reinforced what a unique and tremendous community asset we have with our canals in Fresno and Clovis. A 200 mile Fresno-Clovis Trail System along our canals could someday be our community’s signature amenity — something we’re known for…What incredible potential! Mark
I always felt that having 3 dogs was an abundance overload of canines in my home! (Lol) But after my walk along the canals, I had the chance to see people’s backyards. Almost everyone had a dog…if not 3! I never knew so many people owned dogs in Fresno! Tami and Rod
Observing back yards instead of usual front yards, some really neat and nice, others not so much.
Walking the canal banks this morning was a peaceful experience. There is a need to clean up the garbage that is strewn along the fences, however, today was a beautiful sunny day and the water was flowing softly the whole route. Walked over 15,000 steps… Fitbit! Liz
The group talked to Michael, who has walked and biked the canals for 40 years. He loves the peacefulness and sense of community he gets. Marilyn
Much of this route along canals is planned for renovation with the Fresno/Canal trail project that will connect 20 miles of trailways. $10 million, to be completed 2018!#lovetheplaceyoulive Read about the planned trails that connect Fresno and Clovis, for 20+ miles of walking/biking trails, much along canal banks – completed 2018! http://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article83597162.html
